Coaching Basketball
Chuck sent this in and suggested this idea for coaching basketball at a recent practice. I’ve refined it a bit and included it for you below.
Circle the Wagons Rebounding
Place ball on the floor mid way at the free throw line.
Place 5 players equal distance around the inside of the free throw circle
Place 5 players equal distance around the outside of the free throw circle
The 5 offensive players outside begin to circle the ball (clockwise or counterclockwise) as the 5 defensive players inside bump them with an arm bar as they move past the 5 defensive players inside the circle. When the basketball coach calls shot; box out and hold for 5 seconds.
If no offensive player gets to the ball, award one point to the defense. If offensive player gets to ball, award one point to offense. Do this drill several times with defense and offense switching places. Keep score to see which team does the best. Each team runs sprints with losing team doubling up on sprints.
