While teaching secondary school players, I have found Basketball Golf to be a great drill to assess pupils jump shooting technique. The kids enjoy the competitive aspect to their learning.
Since we have rectangular backboards in our practice facility, I came up with this simple shooting drill to develop concentration. Use as a warm-up for game condition shooting drills.
This drill called Jungle Heat is one of our favorite basketball handling drills. It is fast-paced and instantly engages the competitive spirit of your players.
To get my middle school players (boys and girls) to jump straight up and to come down where they left the floor when they shoot I have them jump/shoot in hula hoops.
