This drill called Jungle Heat is one of our favorite basketball handling drills. It is fast-paced and instantly engages the competitive spirit of your players.
Jungle Heat
Start line at half court. Position one defender in the paint and two defenders on the three point line standing about 6 feet apart.
Rules:
One ball when dribbled across the half court line the two defenders on the three point line attack the ball and try to trap With Out Fouling. If the dribbler can get past the defenders and past the three point line then the offense passed step 1.
Next the offense must go one on one against the defender in the paint and try to score as many times as they can until the defense gets the ball.
Note:
If the defense up top lets the dribbler get past then each must do 5-10 push ups.
If the defense in the paint gets scored on then same 5-10 push ups.
If the offense dribbler can not advance the ball to the basket then they must do 5-10 push ups.
Rotate line from offense to defense on the three point line to other defense on three point line to defense in the paint.
Variation: May start line in middle, or on either side of sidelines when coming across half court. Def on three point line can attack the ball only when it crosses half court.
