Last week, I sent out a request for my newsletter subscribers to send in their best drills for [tag]man defense basketball[/tag]. Check out the [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] below.
From Daniel…
Here is a fun way of ensuring players play hard [tag]man-to-man[/tag].
We select a full length court that is surrounded on the side by other backboards usually used for [tag]free throw[/tag] training. Thus we have 1 full sized court with say 2 or 3 baskets on the sidelines.
The [tag]drill[/tag] is this : we play hard man-to-man .
The [tag]offense[/tag] can score on any of the available baskets, ie. the 2 on the full sized court or any of the sideline baskets. This way you have to [tag]guard[/tag] your man tight as you never know if he is going to swerve off and score on any of the sideline baskets.
We found that the [tag]defense[/tag] learned NOT TO RELAX at anytime and made sure that the offensive player was always tightly covered.
From Julius…
3 on 3 full court is a great tool for early season or tryouts. It helps you know who can really play defense and who is understands the game. Don’t leave them out there but about 7 minutes a group or it gets pretty ugly.
