Purpose
Practicing the pullback & crossover move
Drill Setup
- Players a line on each wing
- First player in each line has a ball
- Put a trash can down on the block to act as dummy defender
How it Works
- First player in line drives to the baseline until they’re cutoff
- Player retreat dribbles away from Dummy D
- Player crosses over and attacks middle
- Finishes with a pull up jumpshot or layup
Coaching Tips
- You can allow players to choose their own crossover move, or cycle them through them all on your command
- As players get more comfortable with the crossover, allow them to play with tempo and change speeds to keep the defense off balance
- Advanced ballhandlers can work on a fake pullback, hesitating at the cutoff before accelerating past the defense
