A jump stop (or quick stop) is the technique of hopping from one foot, and landing on 2 feet. You usually want to be in triple threat position when you land. In today’s video blog post, we are breaking down the quick stop, and sharing an excellent drill you can incorporate into your practice plan today and watch your players footwork improve tomorrow!

How it Works

Quick start into triple threat position, and then quick stop at the free throw line, followed by a quick stop at mid court.

Important Points to Remember

  • Always land in triple threat
  • Be sure to land on your whole foot, and get your heels down.
  • Keep your back straight as you land.
  • You should be able to hear a good quick stop. If you hear a good quick stop, you can stick it and get “squeaky feet”.
