Chuck sent this in and suggested this idea for [tag]coaching basketball[/tag] at a recent practice. I’ve refined it a bit and included it for you below.
Circle the Wagons Rebounding
“
Place ball on the floor mid way at the free throw line.
Place 5 players equal distance around the inside of the free throw circle
Place 5 players equal distance around the outside of the free throw circle
“
The 5 offensive players outside begin to circle the ball (clockwise or counterclockwise) as the 5 defensive players inside bump them with an arm bar as they move past the 5 defensive players inside the circle. When the [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]coach[/tag] calls shot; box out and hold for 5 seconds.
If no offensive player gets to the ball, award one point to the defense. If offensive player gets to ball, award one point to offense. Do this [tag]drill[/tag] several times with defense and offense switching places. Keep score to see which team does the best. Each team runs sprints with losing team doubling up on sprints.
