Charlie, one of my readers, sent this one to me last week. A great example of [tag]basketball zone offense[/tag] [tag]coaching[/tag] that doesn’t require a coaching PhD to figure out.
From Charlie…
Here is a [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]rebounding[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] we call Wildcat.
Have three players in the lane and a [tag]coach[/tag] or another player [tag]shoot[/tag]. The three battle for the [tag]rebound[/tag]/loose ball wherever it goes. The player that gets the rebound/loose ball has the option of making a move and trying to score or [tag]passing[/tag] out to coach/player and posting up for a return pass in order to try to score.
Players get 1 pt for:
a rebound
running down and gaining the [tag]possession[/tag] of a loose ball,
scoring after procuring a rebound,
loose ball, or after gaining possession passing back out and scoring after a post up.
The first player to 5 pts is out and a new player steps in until everyone on the team has scored five points.
This drill helped with our hustle for loose balls in games and on our scoring off [tag]offensive[/tag] rebounds and our going for the rebound in general.
