This may not be a totally unique idea, but these are great [tag]basketball passing drills[/tag] for working with younger kids and teaching them to pass AND to move without the [tag]basketball[/tag].

This passing [tag]basketball drill[/tag] is real simple:
A no dribble scrimmage.
No dribbling allowed.
Force the players to move without the ball and get into an open area.

This drill also gets them to think about getting open and making passes closer to the basket, if they ever want to score.

After a long time of no-dribble scrimmage, allow them just one dribble.  They will start to think strategically about when and how to use their dribble. Also they will work to get open in places that they can score with just one dribble.
