Last week, I sent out a request for my newsletter subscribers to send in their best [tag]basketball shooting workouts[/tag]. Check out this one below (very creative!).
I have modified a five cone [tag]shooting[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag], which I saw in Jordan’s breakfast club workouts.
We position five cones on the court: one in each corner, one on both wings and one at the top of the key. Emphasize that players should execute all facets in game speed. First time run the drill to score inside shots or [tag]layups[/tag]. Line up players in three lines: the shooter’s line is on the right box in the paint, one above the top of the key for the passer, one in the paint to [tag]rebound[/tag] and pass out to the top of the key.
To start the [tag]basketball[/tag] drill, the [tag]shooter[/tag] makes a jab step from the box into the paint, then cuts hard to the right corner cone. Pivot spin and run back to the box with hands up, ready to receive the ball. The passer line should take one right hand dribble from the top of the key toward the wing side where the shooter is cutting, then give a good bounce pass for the shot. The rebounder should quickly rebound the made or missed shot and pass to the passer at the key. The shooter jogs back to the box, then jabs and cuts to the right wing cone, curl and cut back to the box for the next pass and layup. Again rebounder passes to the key. The shooter returns to the box, jabs then cuts to the top of the key. Emphasize the cutter turn their head toward the passer to see the ball, then layup down the middle. Rebounder passes back to the key. Shooter returns to the left box, jab steps, then cuts to the left wing, curl and cut back to the box for the layup. Passer takes one left hand dribble from the top of the key toward the left wing, then give a good bounce pass to the shooter. Rebounder passes back to the top of the key. Shooter returns to the box, jab step and cut to the left corner, curl and cut to the box for the layup.
This completes one session. Each player should then rotate: shooter rotates to rebounder, [tag]passer[/tag] rotate to shooter, rebounder rotates to passer.
For outside shots, make the start position for the shooter the right corner cone. Jab step up and cut to the box, curl and cut back to the right corner cone with hands up ready receive the ball. Passer repeats the same motion: one right dribble toward right wing and pass to the corner. Shooter takes the jump shot at the right corner cone. Rebounder passes to the key. Continue shooting from all cones then rotate players.
