Coming up with new ideas for [tag]basketball skill[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a [tag]drill[/tag] that Melissa sent in and works well for me.
From Melissa…
A favorite [tag]basketball[/tag] drill that I do with my freshman girls at least 3 times a week is a version of Gauntlet and Kentucky [tag]lay-ups[/tag] drills.
We have a line at each end of the court, with an outlet at the 3 point line in front of each line.
The girls make a pass to the outlet, who throws up a lob towards the opposite basket, which the original player chases down for a layup.
We time it, usually 3:30 mins right and left, and set a goal for makes (usually 50-55).
They run for each one they fall short of the goal. Sometimes I count misses instead of makes to the same purpose.
It’s a great [tag]warm-up[/tag], good conditioner, and the kids love the competition aspect of it.
