Derek and Mike came up with some great suggestions covering [tag]basketball skills[/tag].  Keep ‘em coming!Basketball Skills

From Derek…

I have a great out-of-bounds play. “  We call it “Blackdown”.

Under your own basket, line up like regular box play.
2 people on blocks, 2 people at corners of freethrow line.  Both sides do the same thing.  The 2 block people pick up for 2 elbow people.  The elbow people come straight down to the block and cut out to the three point line.  The 2 pickers then come right back to the block.
We’re looking to pass the ball to the person starting on the block in front of the person throwing the ball inbounds.
“
It works best if you ball fake to the person cutting to the three point line, then lob or bounce pass to the block for an easy layup.
When run right this [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] works awesome.

From Mike…

We begin every practice with a 2-minute drill.  All the players must gather at half court.  [tag]Coach[/tag] picks one player to remind everyone what our top 3 goals are.  The player reminds everyone, then we put our hands together to chant ahhhhhhhhhhh….TEAM.  Then we begin our practice.
“ “
We find it important to remind them why they’re there, especially because gym time is never enough.  We need to make the most of our practice time together.
