I’ve gotten a whole bunch of requests for [tag]basketball skills training[/tag] over the past few weeks. Here are a couple of“ [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag]“ sent in by Larry and Allan.
From Larry…
Defensive slide/Conditioning drill.
“ Have player get into defensive slide position on baseline corner. Give them a basketball and have the ball off their back foot. “ Let’s say they are moving right first, so the ball will be on the floor at their left hand. Have them slide diagonally to the foul line,“ rolling the ball with their left hand and holding their right hand up. Key is to make sure their butt’s are down and head is up. “ Once they get to the foul line, they reverse towards half court with left hand up and right hand rolling the ball along the floor. Other key is to not let them roll the ball ahead. It must stay between their legs as they go.
From Allan…
Its called 3on 2, 2 on 1
Three players go on offense against the two players at the other end of court.
The person who turns the ball over (makes shoot, bad pass, shoots and defense gets rebound) must hustle back on defense.
The two players who were on defense now become offense and it becomes 2 on 1. When they get 3/4 down the floor the next three players start the 3on 2, 2on 1 [tag]drill[/tag] again. The two players who didn’t turn over the ball remain on D.
