I sent out a request for my newsletter subscribers to send in their best [tag]coaching drills for youth basketball[/tag]. Check out these [tag]coaching[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] below (very creative!).

Here’s my [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag]–
My 9th grade girls didn’t have the arm [tag]strength[/tag] so I began to think how to improve their arm as far as passing the ball.
I bought a 5lb medicine ball and in [tag]practice[/tag] we would pass it around in a circle using [tag]chest pass[/tag]-then move in closer the like hot potato. If one of the girls drops the ball they were out until last one standing.
They love it.

Here’s something simple and effective.
This will teach younger players to definitely [tag]shoot[/tag] with proper follow through.
I have them bring their favorite can of soda to practice and hold it in their non shooting hand while shooting free throws. I hope this is unique enough for you.
From Shawn…
One play that seems to work for my team every game at least 3 to 4 times is our [tag]out of bounds play[/tag].
We stack two players at each elbow, one behind the other.
On the slap of the ball the players closest to the ball runs to the corner and the remaining two players fill the lanes straight to the cup.
For some reason this play works almost all the time.
