Coming up with new ideas for [tag]defense basketball[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] can sometimes be a challenge. Here’s a [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] sent in by Tom that works well.
From Tom…
I know there are lots of drills to assist players here but the one we use most successfully begins at any of the jump circles.
The [tag]offensive[/tag] players with their heals on the circle facing outward and the [tag]defensive[/tag] players inside the circle facing the offensive players back.
The ball is placed in the center of the circle and a [tag]coach[/tag] begins the drill by yelling “Ball”.
The objective is for the defensive player to keep the offensive player from getting the ball for Five Seconds using screening out skills.
A point is given to which ever side accomplishes their task.
Killers are run by the losing team after both teams have had an opportunity at screening out.
