Terry from Iowa sent in a request for new drills for [tag]shooting a basketball[/tag] he could use with his team. Here’s one that Rick sent to us that is successful with his team.
From Rick…
One [tag]basketball[/tag] [tag]drill[/tag] I like to do is one that teaches hustle and finishing a layup on a fast break.
Have two lines at half court (one at each corner by the out of bounds line). One line has the ball and the other line is the defender. Once the whistle is blown the the side with the ball goes as quickly as he can to score a layup and the defender simultaneously runs to stop the person with the ball from scoring a [tag]layup[/tag].
This added pressure simulates real games. Typically, both arrive at the same spot right when a layup is to be shot. Typically, layups are only made 50% of the time as the defensive pressure alters shots.
