Walter, one of my newsletter subscribers, emailed me this [tag]drill[/tag] for [tag]shooting basketballs[/tag]. I’m passing it on to you to try at your next [tag]practice[/tag]. Let me know how it goes for you.
From Walter…
“Over the top”
Start with a group of [tag]basketball[/tag] players lined up behind the baseline.
One player will go at a time and will complete a series of 4 or 5 layups.
The player will sprint to the [tag]coach[/tag], who is standing about 15 feet away, and touch the ball with both hands and turn back quickly to the basket and complete a [tag]layup[/tag] after receiving a pass over his/her shoulder. The player grabs the [tag]rebound[/tag] and throws a crisp pass back to the coach, who is standing about 30 feet away, and does the same thing.
Continue this drill until for 4 or 5 completed layups on one side of the court and alternate through all the players. Move to the other side of the court next and maybe add in pull-up jumpers for a variation.
This is a great [tag]conditioning drill[/tag] and a good way to practice finishing in transition.
