I’ve gotten a whole bunch of requests for [tag]youth basketball[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] over the past few days. Here’s an idea from George that works well with the younger [tag]basketball[/tag] players.
I put forward the 11 man [tag]drill[/tag]. I find this is a very useful drill with younger players especially, when 5 v.5 is too much for them to take in.
You are in a 3 v.2 situation and the basketball [tag]coach[/tag] can have the players concentrate on a few activities at a time. For example, in attack, several situations can be emphasized from pass and screen away to using a screen from the back. In“ defense the 2 defenders need to cooperate to have any hope of stopping the offense.
Timing and cooperation with others is emphasized.
By the way my olders players just love the competitive nature of this drill.
