In today’s video blog post, we are demonstrating the Tempo Control Offense, and how continuity should flow between your players when running this offense. Implement this drill into your basketball practice plan, and you will see improved teamwork and continuity between your players!
The spacing and timing mechanics exercised in this drill help your players learn to be mentally strong and quick enough to occupy all of the necessary spots to provide full coverage. Athletes also learn their limits as an individual player, and how to work together as a team to combat a good defense against them.
Tempo Control Offense
As you see in this video, your players – for spacing and timing purposes – must be mentally tough enough to occupy all of the spots. For instance, a forward player cannot catch he ball near the corner and expect to dribble safely out to a guard spot. That is not going to happen against a solid defensive team. By including this drill methodology in your practice plan, you will teach your players to quickly respond and work together to achieve ultimate teamwork and continuity.
