In today’s video blog post, we are highlighting a great footwork drill that focuses on transitioning to defense during play. Quick and clean footwork during this transition is critical for successful defense. This drill works both forward and backwards motion across the length of the court.
Breaking Down the Footwork Drill:
– When transitioning to defense, the first thing you have to do is turn around quickly.
– Sprint as hard as you can and look over your inside shoulder for the ball.
– When you get to the half court line, turn around and run backwards.
– Run through repetition without the ball, and then add passing the ball to a player randomly, so they can work on looking over the inside shoulder and watching the ball.
