Snap Drill

The purpose of this basketball drill is to strengthen your follow-through movement and your forearms for your shot.

In this exercise, it’s important that you initiate your movement with your palm facing up towards the ceiling and finish with your palm facing down toward the floor.

As your player completes his follow-through, he should have a straight line on his wrist to the end of his fingertips.

Some of the drills that we will practice, we like to do in front of a mirror because as you see yourself perform the mechanics, you will be able to recognize if they are being done correctly.

Complete 25 repetitions of this drill.

Follow-Through from Back Drill

In this exercise, you will lay on your back, start with the ball on your shoulder pad or shooting pocket area, and work on the backspin and the follow-through of your shot.

The objective is to put as much backspin on the ball as you can without seeing the lines on the ball as you follow through.

It is also beneficial for working on and strengthening your follow-through mechanics. As your player conducts this drill, his palm should be facing up toward the ceiling, to begin, and once completing the follow-through, his palm should be facing down toward the floor.

Complete 25 repetitions of this drill.

Chair Follow-Through Drill

Each of the basketball drills that we are giving you should be completed in a logical sequence, starting with strengthening your wrists and follow-through to moving toward the chair to strengthen your physical mechanics.

The chair follow-through drill will force the player to work on having a strong follow-through as they complete their free throws.

An added benefit of this drill is that it forces the athlete to finish with their shot above their head and not with their arm shooting toward the front of the rim.

The chair should be below the half circle of the free throw line so the back of the chair will line up on the bottom half of the circle of the free throw line.

Complete 25 repetitions of this drill.
