Basketball Shooting DrillsSince we have rectangular backboards in our practice facility, I came up with this simple shooting drill to develop concentration. Use as a warm-up for game condition shooting drills.

Simple Shooting Drill
Stand perpendicular to the baseline facing the side of the backboard.

Begin 5 feet away and shoot the ball so it hits the side of the backboard and bounces straight back to you.

Back up a step each time the ball bounces back to you without you having to move to retrieve it.

See how far you can move back.

If your shot isn’t straight on target you will miss the backboard or it will hit the corner and the shooter will have to go chase down their less than accurate shot.

No one wants to do that, so it develops concentration and shooting accuracy. If you miss two in a row step in one step.

Shoot for 1-2 minutes.
